“At its heart, it’s a story about family and trust, twisted together with tiny details that make this near-future world feel as real and lived-in as a small town”
– Kara Dennison
“From the first chapter I was hooked. Wehn’s writing is fantastic and really evokes the dangerous and limited setting of the space colonies.”
– A Reader Lives a Thousand Lives
“Shores of a New Horizon is a thrilling and hugely entertaining road trip through a future-Mars undergoing a terraforming transformation. Wehm deftly weaves together technology and science, corporate intrigue, family drama, daring detective work, a gripping a heist, and a satisfying sense of humor as we follow two estranged siblings through the domed cities and bumpy backroads of the Red Planet. It’s the kind of science fiction story that makes you want to travel the solar system, and maybe even ride a rover to Valles Marineris.”
– MARIA HASKINS, author and translator
A Terraforming Mars Novel
After a century of struggle, the terraforming of Mars was intended to bring peace and prosperity to the colonists of the Red Planet, but while the planet may be livable, humans bring their own chaos
On Mars, terraforming breakthroughs leave citizens dreaming of a transformed planet. However, when a contaminated ice asteroid puts water supplies in peril, the dream quickly shatters. Professor Zambrotta “Zammi” Kaspar is tasked to investigate a fatal crash on a remote ice asteroid, but he never expects to discover his missing sister there as an indentured worker for the Mining Guild. As the siblings reconnect and dig deeper into the mystery of the contaminated water, they both discover a personal legacy of secrets and loss over competing visions for the future of humanity. Can they unite to reveal the truth behind the water contamination before their dream of a terraformed Mars evaporates into the newly formed atmosphere?
Mankind is on the brink of achieving a second planet to live on: Mars. Vast corporations spend fortunes to compete to transform the Red Planet into an environment where humanity can thrive. The potential rewards are enormous, the risks colossal. As the biosphere becomes habitable, immigration from Earth increases, and social and political pressures stress the already fierce corporate rivalry. While scientific advances are daily miracles, not everyone is working toward the same future. In a savage place like Mars, the smallest error can be lethal.

More about M Darusha Wehm
“I came away from this book wanting to learn more, to discover more about the kinds of people that would make their homes on Mars, the corporations that would try to alter it and the science they use, and to spend more time on this strangely beautiful world. I can’t wait to see what else gets made in this franchise.”
