Assistant Editor, Aconyte Books
Do you want to be part of an exciting new fiction publishing imprint? Do the worlds of video games, comic books, and boardgames get you excited? Are you in love with fantasy novels and the wonderful stories they can tell? At Asmodee Entertainment we are looking for a stand-out candidate to join the Aconyte Books team in Nottingham, as we expand our ranges of immersive tie-in novels.
Are you excited by the thought of helping talented writers hone their stories so they become rich and exciting new adventures in these worlds? Want to help us develop these books so they’re the best they can possibly be? This role brings all of that for the right person.
You will be coming in as a key member of the Aconyte Books team, based in Nottingham, UK. Working closely with the publisher and a fellow assistant editor, you will recruit and develop authors to work on our various ranges of tie-in novels. You will match authors to properties and vice versa, and help them create pitches and full proposals. You’ll then guide the book’s text through editorial development and on to production. There will also be some opportunities to help represent the books at events and fan conventions.
The challenges in this role will be to understand the game and comic book worlds – as both a fan and an expert – so you understand what makes a truly great story. You will have some existing experience of developing and editing books to bring to the role too. The schedule will be busy and the budgets modest, so creativity and drive are equally essential.
For the right person this could be a great step up from an existing role, an opportunity to join a well-supported imprint near its start and help contribute to its direction and success.
To apply for this position, please take the time to craft a cover letter which really explains what makes you who you are, what you’ve done so far, and why this is the job for you. By all means send in a current CV too.
We look forward to hearing from you!
Closing date: 2 March, 2020
Location: Nottingham, UK
Please send applications to Vanessa Jack firstname.lastname@example.org by close of play Monday 2nd March.
